Painted Glass Bottles and Jars - Wedding Centerpiece Ideas

I have a ton of glass laying around…time to DIY!!  I picked some of my favorite colors, yellow and gray, in latex paint.

Truth be told the paint was pretty thick…maybe I bought the wrong latex?  Once I watered it down it was easier to coat the glass.

Love the look of the finished product.  Let it dry though!!  It takes longer than you think.

The Beauty of Military Blankets

Sometimes my blog goes more in the design direction but I promise I’ll tie this into a wedding use.  I love military blankets.  Something about them are so beautiful to me…rough, vintage, historical.  Here are some of my favorites:

Italian Style

US Issue

And my favorite this grey and yellow one.

Now picture this…an outdoor wedding complete with a smore’s station or a campfire…enter military blankets.  Fairly inexpensive and rustic, it would be nice to have some laying around when it gets chilly.

Mason Jar Salads for Wedding Reception

I came across a post about Mason Jar Salads and I started to think that this might be a super cute idea for a wedding reception.  Perhaps a laid back farm wedding or maybe a wedding reception in a barn?!?!

Jars could already be on each place setting, in the buffet line or even served individually by wait staff.

Tips for making a Mason Jar Salad include:

1. Dressing on bottom, lettuce on top.

2. On top of dressing should be something hearty like shredded cabbage, pea pods or carrot matchsticks

DIY Recycled Glass Centerpiece Idea

When I ran across this beer in the store I knew I had to make something out of these amazing bottles…I wanted a more modern look a la Crate and Barrel.

I wound up at a home improvement store looking for glass paint and clear coat.  I chose both the white and clear coat in a matte finish.

After some trial and error I found the best way to spray paint them was to put my finger inside (or my sidekicks finger) and spray away.  Wear gloves!!

The finished product was awesome!  Love the matte finish.

Such a great way to recycle beautiful bottles.  A fun way to add interest to your centerpiece or home decor.  Remember you can paint any glass…jam jars, soda bottles, mason jars etc.  Have fun!  Play around and be creative.
