Cool Things Wednesdays 75 - Unique Wedding Ideas & Decor

I love this Wishing Wall from Uncommon Goods.  What a cute way to have wedding guests write the bride and groom words of love, encouragement and congratulations.

I am absolutely in love with this periwinkle colored wedding dress.  Very unique and chic.

Wedding Reception Photo of the Month - Blue and White Wedding

The color combination of blue and white is so crisp and refreshing.  The addition of the lanterns just put it over the top.  Truly a spectacular blue and white wedding.  Photo by Laura Novak.

Cool Things Wednesdays 73 - Unique Wedding Ideas & Decor

I am always searching for unique wedding place cards or escort cards.  I love these zinc place cards.  Very unique and slightly industrial.

We have all seen those beautiful pom poms that Martha Stewart can make.  Let me tell you they are not easy to make.  Especially if you have to make one for every guest or wedding favor.  Check out these wedding pom poms from etsy.

I love these pom poms used as napkin decor.  A lovely little detail to add to your wedding.

Bellissima Vita and Sarah Drake Design Collaboration

For those of you unfamiliar with the beautiful letterpress design of Sarah Drake I urge you to check out her site. She designed my wedding invites. I of course chose the Park Lane Invite (see picture below).

When she asked me to design a tablescape around the Park Lane invite to showcase her new line of couture wedding papers including place cards I jumped at this amazing opportunity. I turned to my friend and amazing photographer James from Photography by Lisa + James to memorialize this tablescape.

I was going for a crisp modern green and white theme to compliment Sarah’s grass design. I wanted to use wheat grass but in a different way. The wheat grass acted as the place card holder.

I wanted each floral arrangement to match the slipcover I had made so I consulted with Karen from Huckleberry Karen Designs. I had to have the green and white parrot tulips and the ornamental kale. She did such a beautiful putting together these arrangements.

I made slipcovers for the vases in some of the most amazing green silks and crisp white Irish linens.

Stacey Shapiro did the calligraphy and I have to say it was by far the most beautiful calligraphy I have ever seen. Here are some more samples.
I was one of five wedding professionals to design a look for Sarah. Check out the other four at Sarah’s blog.

Cut Arts

Now had I found Cut Arts before my wedding it would have almost been a done deal….Maybe for our 10th anniversary celebration. Karl Johnson is a true artist. As it says on his website, “Each Silhouette is cut out entirely freehand. Karl simply looks at the subject’s profile or photograph and starts cutting their exact likeness out of black paper.”

Now this beautiful artwork does come at a price but these Silhouettes can double as your favors. Your guests definitely will be blow away by this.

Check him out at a recent wedding up here in Northern California:

Now if you simply cannot afford this unique set up at your wedding but love the idea why not take a picture from your wedding and have him cut a Silhouette from that. Here are a few examples:

I am seriously considering doing this for us. I just can’t decide what picture to have him do….When I do order I will post pictures.
