Flower Girl Wedding Style

The first flower girls of Ancient Rome were responsible for carrying wheat and herbs which signified fertility and prosperity.  Today’s flower girl does not have to cover the aisle with rose petals (many venues don’t allow this because of staining).  Why not outfit your flower girls in stylish chic outfits and small bouquets?

New Wedding Planning, Florist and Photography Office in San Francisco

Well I am dying with excitement.  After a year on Union Street in San Francisco, office sharing with the amazingly talented Thomas Hughes Films and Bella Bridesmaid, its time to spread my wings.  I simply need more display and storage space for all my beautiful wedding decor.  Lucky for me my friends Karen of Huckleberry Karen Designs and Lisa + James of the newly named Elle Jae Weddings (formerly Photography by Lisa + James) wanted to share a space.  We are now proud renters in the American Industrial Center.

Without further ado:

This will be an ongoing series so you can watch this space develop into the ultimate studio and planning space for us.

My Niche

Lets be honest: I am obsessed with weddings. A good obsession but an obsession none the less.

I also believe that all brides, no matter their budget, deserve the opportunity to hire a DOC.

When I began my DOC search I had a budget in mind. It was quite hard for me to find a DOC in that price range especially here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I did (thank you Christine!) but nowadays my “magic number” is almost impossible to find.

Reasons why my prices are lower than most:

  1. I don’t support myself with the money I earn coordinating weddings. If I had to (and that is the plan someday) prices inevitably would have to go up.
  2. As an attorney I can justify charging $250 per hour. As a wedding coordinator I simply cannot (at least not yet, see number 1)
  3. I really love executing beautiful weddings. It does not feel like a job to me and the fact that I get paid to do this is only an added bonus.

For those on a budget my packages can be customized. To lower your costs you may want to think about hiring a DOC for your reception only (esp. if you already have say a church coordinator) or hiring a DOC for less hours overall.

Lighting Part 2 - Candles

Candles can really transform a space and create a truly magical wedding atmosphere.

Make sure you check with your ceremony and reception sites to make sure candles are allowed as some have policies against open flames.

Tealights

Some are a simple as these from Crate & Barrel

Or more formal like these silver holders
from Jamali Garden.

These are also interesting from Jamali
Garden.

Hurricanes can also be used as centerpieces.

Great use of hanging lanterns. Pottery Barn

These are quite dramatic and fabulous. Would make
great centerpieces also. Wrapables

Ode to Lighting

A common element of interior design is LIGHTING. Many underestimate the importance of lighting. While this may not be on the top of your list next time you visit your venue check the lighting situation out.

There are so many options out there. Many will hire lighting experts to design their venue. Others will DIY.

Here are some of my favorite finds:

The Beginning of it All

I began planning my own wedding in 2005. I was immediately overwhelmed by the options available to me. I did most, if not all, my research online and found the Internet to be a wealth of information.

This is why I decided to create this blog. Its purpose is to not only give brides/grooms the opportunity to get to know me a little bit better but to help brides and grooms rifle through their many options.

Enjoy!
